Remake Learning Days 2022

Remake Learning Days is an innovative learning festival for families and youth across the U.S. rooted in the Campaign for Grade Level Reading. Read about our free inaugural Suncoast Remake Learning Days event on May 7, 2022 in Sarasota, Florida!

Ideas + Partnerships = Limitless Impact

We knew we wanted to be involved with #RemakeDays and with support from The Patterson Foundation, and sponsorship from the Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center and UnidosNOW, connecting even more people to digital spaces became a reality in Sarasota.

Build

Our Build, Code, Go! event begins with asset-limited families with 4th - 8th grade students without a home computer, who are invited to attend the event by our device sponsor, UnidosNOW, a 501(c)3 organization helping Latino families achieve their American dream. Sitting side by side, parents and their children will start by unboxing a new Kano PC and putting it together.

Code

During a two-hour workshop, families will learn the basics of their new Kano PC which includes an attached webcam for home learning as well as Microsoft Word. Then, they will be introduced to Kano World, where games, art, music, Minecraft puzzles and more are securely created and shared with other community members worldwide.

Go!

Since the Kano PC is useful to users all ages, parents and their children will create a Gmail account and be introduced to free Google Workspace learning content to increase their productivity skills and apply them in practical ways such as family budgeting and calendar syncing, electronic photo albums, resume building, and much, much more!
